Kinky for Governor?
Kinky Friedman, who had a Peace Corps post in Indonesia in the 1970s and led a rock band called “Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys,” has most recently been running an animal shelter in the Texas Hill Country and writing humor books, and mystery novels
set in New York City with himself has the main character.
Now, he’s announced he’s running for Governor of Texas as an independent. He’s been a lifelong Democrat (I think), but he wrote a column in Texas Monthly which Tim Blair has excerpted here.
Country Music Television has a biography here.
Kinky’s official (campaign?) web page is here.
