Supreme Court Opposition: No Longer a Parody!

Filed under: — Different River @ 2:31 pm

A few days ago I mentioned this satire by ScrappleFace which mocks the Democrats’ reflexive opposition to Bush’s judician nominees by “revealing” that a Democratic had given out a press release slamming the nominee for being “clearly outside the mainstream of American values,” and having “a history of abusing subordinates, dodging military service, hiring undocumented workers, … .” And the press release had a blank space for reporters to fill in the name of the nominee once he or she is announced by President Bush.

Well, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) is making this “satire” basically true. Matt Drudge reports:

Senate Judiciary Committee member Chuck Schumer got busy plotting away on the cellphone aboard a Washington, DC-New York Amtrak — plotting Democrat strategy for the upcoming Supreme Court battle.

Schumer proudly declared: “We are contemplating how we are going to go to war over this.”

Schumer later went on to mock the “Gang of 14” judicial filibuster deal and said it wasn’t relevant in the Supreme Court debate.

“A Priscilla Owen or Janice Rogers Brown style appointment may not have been extraordinary to the appellate court but may be extraordinary to the Supreme Court.”

A guess he’s against women on the court, too. Republican women, anyway.

While they mock conservatives for allegedly believing “a woman’s place is in the home,” I guess they believe “a woman’s place is in the abortion clinic.”
