Journalistic Ethics at the New York Times

Filed under: — Different River @ 10:36 pm

The New York Times has been trying to “investigate” the adoptions of Judge Roberts’ children. This was first reported by the Drudge Report, after which a Times issued a statement simultaneously accusing the Drudge Report of lying, and saying that their attempts to illegally obtain sealed adoption records was part of a “standard background check.”

In other words, “The guy who said we did it is lying, even though we did it, but it’s an OK thing to do.”

And people wonder why the newspapers are losing credibilty….

By the way, does anyone else remember that about 8 years ago, the Times was saying — in reference to a different government figure of course — that someone’s “personal life” was irrelevant to his suitability for public office?

Or is it that “personal life” matters for Republicans but not Democrats?
